| >> v01d [vee-zero-one-dee] is... the one-man project of joseph byer from Toronto. a graduate of the Ontario College of Arts and Design's Integrated Media program where his thesis involved playing pieces of public sculpture as percussive instruments, joseph has been experimenting with sound for many years. the result of many of these experiments was digitalia, an exploration into a wide range of electronic music styles. a self-released 7-song album as digitalia was released in 2001. having dabbled in sound design for film, theatre and performance art, v01d is joseph's offering to the electro-industrial world. with influences ranging from Faith No More to Pop Will Eat Itself to Haujobb, v01d is a mixture of the more cerebral elements found in techno, rock, hiphop and drum'n'bass. by now you've heard many bands make similiar claims so you can decide for yourself. in addition to v01d, joseph has been hard at work this year with Jennifer Parkin, completing her 2nd Ayria disc. "Flicker", released Oct 10th 2005 on Alfa-Matrix, is a unique foray into various music styles that few music talents dare to venture. after joining the live Ayria show in the summer of 2004, joseph was presented with the opportunity to help Jenn realize her full artistic potential as a producer and programmer for the bulk of the 13-song release. look for joseph to continue playing a key role in future Ayria live gigs. |
